Abstract
The role of stereotactic radiosurgery has been expanded rapidly to include spinal applications, however overall methods and treatment protocols for spinal radiosurgery are not yet standardized. Currently, image-guided, flameless navigation enables better accuracy and higher precision in the performance of this procedure, which has been further developed for extracranial radiosurgery. Moreover, comprehensive radiobiological knowledge and experience using radiosurgery contributes to significant advances in this technique. As a result of these improvements, quality of life is considerably improved in patients with spinal tumors. This article will discuss patient selection, treatment procedure, and overall principle and clinical outcomes with regard to spinal radiosurgery.
